1. You are overqualified
Maybe you did so want the job, and you do not question the position given. Still, you are deemed overqualified, and is not acceptable for a company that you want. Applicants who have work experience and educational background exceeds criteria established by the employer, it is feared will demand higher salaries. The possibility of the company also felt unable to offer a "package" which is competitive with your current company. Especially in difficult times like now. 2. You do not know the "insider"
Today, networking is more role. All you need to remember, be honest with yourself during the interview session. Should not expect that you can outwit them. If the interviewer calls you to say that you are not accepted, you may ask why. Be professional, and do not forget to thank them for helping to understand what faults or weaknesses.
